Manuel Martinez, Joint Combat Camera Center Iraq) Expandable and adaptable, the iRobot® Transphibian™ supports a wide variety of defense, first responder and commercial applications. Transphibian is capable of swimming long distances and is difficult to detect; the robot swims submerged to its destination, guided by periodic GPS updates. The iRobot Transphibian, a fin-powered UUV and bottom crawler, can operate in a very shallow area. The fins enable the robot to avoid obstacles and maneuver in tight spaces. Lightweight and compact, the iRobot® 210 Negotiator® easily climbs stairs and moves swiftly through a range of environments. The iRobot® 510 PackBot® identifies roadside bombs and other IEDs, as well as unexploded ordnance, while keeping troops at safe standoff distances.
The iRobot® 510 PackBot® provides military and civil defense engineers with a single, advanced solution for multiple missions. With its rear-mounted ordnance lift system, the iRobot® 510 PackBot® digs around, moves and carries objects as large as a 155 mm shell that weighs about 100 pounds. The robot’s expandable toolbar features a customizable suite of combat engineer tools, including wire cutters, a spade, a rake and others, that make it easier to identify and overcome obstacles. The iRobot Boeing 320 SUGV easily climbs stairs, rolls over debris and enters areas that are inaccessible or too dangerous for people, making the robot ideal for advanced reconnaissance and other infantry missions. The iRobot Boeing 320 SUGV, the first robot to meet the demanding requirements of infantry missions, is small, light, rugged and versatile. Designed for infantry missions, the iRobot Boeing 320 SUGV is a rugged robot that operates in all weather and conditions. 320 SUGV gathers situational awareness while keeping warfighters and public safety professionals out of harm’s way.
The iRobot® 510 PackBot® performs surveillance in a variety of settings and environments, evaluating danger zones and inaccessible areas with real-time video, audio and sensor readings. The iRobot® 510 PackBot® detects and identifies dangerous chemical, radiological and organic compounds, providing warfighters, first responders and SWAT teams with critical information on a range of missions. The iRobot® 510 PackBot® investigates potential hazards, gathering sensor data and displaying it on the operator control unit in real time. Adaptable and expandable, the iRobot® 510 PackBot® is a mission-configurable robot that accommodates a wide range of payloads and sensors, including a dexterous manipulator. The iRobot® 500 PackBot® detects explosive vapors at extremely low levels of concentration.
Performing surveillance and reconnaissance in a variety of settings and environments, the iRobot® 510 PackBot® can be used to protect critical infrastructure, including bridges, airports, harbors and railways, as well as government buildings, school campuses and other potential terrorist targets. With its real-time mapping capabilities, the iRobot® 500 PackBot® autonomously builds a two-dimensional map, displaying the structure and layout of the environment in real time on the operator control unit. Sensor readings captured by the iRobot® 500 PackBot® are displayed on the operator control unit in real time. The iRobot® 500 PackBot® detects obstacles and autonomously changes courses to avoid collisions, enabling faster, safer and more efficient operations. A semi-autonomous robot with real-time mapping and safe-guarded teleoperation capabilities, the iRobot® 500 PackBot® builds blueprints of structures and finds hidden hazards, performing missions with less risk.
An advanced security solution, the iRobot® 500 PackBot® screens vehicles, cargo and people to identify explosives. The iRobot® 510 PackBot® uses the BB-2590/U battery in the current military supply chain, providing up to 4 hours of run time, depending on the mission. With the iRobot® 510 PackBot®, first responders can more safely deploy existing tools, such as a STOP STICK. The iRobot® 510 PackBot® features a compact arm and precise gripper, providing superior lifting, carrying and manipulation capabilities. The iRobot® 710 Warrior®, a powerful and rugged multi-mission robot, uses a plow tool to clear roadside debris.
The iRobot® 710 Warrior® with the RE2 AUTOMATIC robotic arm lets the operator choose from a variety of tools in the on-board tool box, enabling a wide range of missions. The iRobot® Transphibian™ uses a combination of fins and ballast tanks to swim and crawl on missions. The fins enable the robot to navigate with 6 degrees of freedom – even in surge. The iRobot® 1KA Seaglider™ operates at depths ranging from 50 to 100 meters, gliding up and down for up to 7 months at a time using a buoyancy engine to change its destiny. Shifting internal masses provide both pitch and roll control for maneuvering. In marsupial mode, the iRobot® 710 Warrior® carries a smaller robot, such as the iRobot® 510 PackBot®, to approach, investigate and neutralize IEDs while keeping personnel at a safe stand-off distance.
