Expandable and adaptable, the iRobot® Transphibian™ supports a wide variety of defense, first responder and commercial applications. Transphibian is capable of swimming long distances and is difficult to detect; the robot swims submerged to its destination, guided by periodic GPS updates. The iRobot Transphibian, a fin-powered UUV and bottom crawler, can operate in a very shallow area. The fins enable the robot to avoid obstacles and maneuver in tight spaces. The iRobot® Transphibian™ uses a combination of fins and ballast tanks to swim and crawl on missions. The fins enable the robot to navigate with 6 degrees of freedom – even in surge. Featuring a modular open architecture, the iRobot® Transphibian™ is able to carry a wide array of sensors and payloads, including a high-definition underwater camera.
